The Road (Poem from physical CD/LP) lyrics
by Tate McRae
The beginning feels distant, a memory far BEHIND
While the end remains ELUSIVE, a destination undefined
I find MYSELF in this ambiguous space, the road that lies between
IF I rush, I lose my breath
But if I linger, I forfeit THE DREAM
The ideal pace seems unattainable, particularly daunting in my eyes
What if when I reach the END, it's not how I pictured in my mind?
I glance away for just a moment to pick the PERFECT peach,
But stillness always tends to come with SUCH a steep price
One car passes, ten cars pass
They're all ahead of ME!!!
I stoppеd for just a second; now I've lost the racе to BEAT
At times, excitement surges, OPTIMISM at my feet; a jog turns into a SPRINT, my speed reaching its PEAK
AS the dust begins to settle after TEN THOUSAND hours in the heat,
My jaw drops in AWE; its a never ending street
If my only query is the destination that awaites me,
When do I find satisfaction in all that lies in between?
Maybe I pace myself, maybe I should breathe,
