I tried to piece it all together

Things had fallen apart

Boys dying on our streets
Some boys the neighbors we knew
And the anger and fear
Screaming murder into tears
Again and again unintentionally
In our streets protesting peacefully
People listened together
And then somethings gone wrong
Gangster violence erupted a peaceful march
And messed it all up
With loitering family business
Destroying public housing
And shooting at the police
The ideas to stop the violence
Ended withdrawing livelihood
Tried to tie it all together
We’ve forgotten our thoughts
Tried to define our purpose
The reasons behind it all have been lost
To many families hurting
The police the children
To many lives slain
Families investment in housing
And business
Their life savings gone
Too many things lost
Too many families suffering
Painfully from loss
And the memories remain
