I know of cacti
and tumble weeds
The dry summer heat
and the monsoon breeze
Lake Mead, winter drought
Hoover Dam coyotes
and Red Reck wolves
Snow roof cabins
Of Mont Charleston
Sunrise above Lake Mead
The desert sky surrounded
by an oasis of palm trees
The warm spring nights
Sun sets beneath desert sky
of hues of red and yellow highlights
Bright lights and Vegas dreams
And a city that never sleeps
I know a place of a dreary past
Life long dreams, of mystery
at the wrong place
at the wrong time
A place of ambition
I, a victim of my own mind
I know a place I gambled on life
To reclaim what was mine
I know a place
I dared to be different
It is a place I lost my mind
I had a dream
And in this place
rests inside of me
The reality of being a poet
Shifting in and out of reason
A delusion hunting me
coming back at me
it was my dream
you are the words
behind the lines of this poem
you are the source
the reasons why I write these words
I know a place where I came from
Where dreams are made from
ambition and a lot of dedication
