With that said, if you've been looking for ways to “pound the pavement” with your music, start with the following five methods:

1. CD Pushing Still Works

Many people are storing their music on devices and computers, and streaming services have become the norm, so it's easy to forget the marketing value of a tangible CD. This old-school method is worth mentioning first because it continues to be effective, even in today's world. Start by making a decent number of copies using a commercial CD duplication services. Once you have a stockpile of CDs, you can either hand them out for free or offer them up for sale on the local market.

2. Attending Industry Events

If you live anywhere near a decent sized city, there should be some sort of local talent shows, competitions, auditions, music festivals, concerts, and other invest in yourself enough to become a regular at a few busy studios in your area, chances are, other people in the industry are going to notice your work ethic and eventually, you will be heard.

Consider Free Shows and Features

Offering your skills for free isn't always the worst idea, especially when you need to build up some initial momentum. In the offline world, offering a free feature to someone you just met in person is a relatively normal thing because most artists recognize that collabs and shows are good for building fan bases and brand awareness, even when there's no money changing hands.
